Eight suspected participants in the unsuccessful attempt for coup carried out by a group within the Turkish military overnight, have sought political asylum in Greece.
Turkish authorities demanded on Saturday the extradition of the eight participants, who fled with military helicopter to Greece.
They landed at the airport of Alexandroupoli in northeastern Greece on Saturday after having sent a distress signal. Shortly after landing, they were arrested by Greek police for illegal entry into the country.
