Bulgaria: Three Bulgarian Women Die in Road Accident in Spain

Three Bulgarian women died and several other were heavily injured in a road accident in Spain on Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred on a motorway 120 kilometres from Madrid as the women were returning from work, 24 Chasa daily informs.

Three minibuses and one car were transporting them to their accommodation in the town of Avila. One of the minibuses was hit by a truck upon entering the motorway.

Two of the Bulgarians, both aged 39, died on the spot. The other passed away later in hospital.

The injured women have been transported to hospitals in Avila and Salamanca. One of them is in coma, while the other has undergone operations of her leg and pelvis.

The group of women, who are all from the Bulgarian town of Nedelino, had gone to Spain to pick strawberries.

The Bulgarian embassy in Spain has confirmed of the incident, but has not disclosed any further details. The families of the victims have been informed. A day of mourning will be declared in Nedelino and the municipality will seek means to help the bereaved families.
