Bulgaria claimed gold medal in the closing day of the rhythmic gymnastics World Cup series in Kazan on Sunday.

Bulgaria finished first in the group five ribbons competition with 18.050 points, leaving behind host Russia with 17.900 and third-placed Israel with 17.350.

Bulgaria is coached by Ina Ananieva and represented by athletes Mihaela Maevska, Hristiyana Todorova, Reneta Kamberova, Tsvetelina Naydenova and Lyubomira Kazanova.

The team once again managed to impress with its excellent performance. It comes at a time as the team is still recovering from the incident involving fellow athlete, Tsvetelina Stoyanova, who fell from the sixth floor of a block of flats in the Sofia neighbourhood of Nadezhda in June.

Stoyanova, who is believed to have attempted suicide, is still in hospital, recovering from the heavy injuries sustained in the fall.
