An uninhabited house, which is part of the cultural heritage of the Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo, collapsed over the weekend.
The run-down house is located on the Stefan Stambolov street near the monument of Velchova zavera. The area of the old town in which the building is located is busy with tourists on their way to Tsarevets fortress.
The signal for the incident was submitted on Sunday and firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Firefighters and municipal officials cleared away the debris from the pavement and the road lane and took measures to make the surrounding area safe.
The ownership of the building has not been established yet, Darik radio informs.
Ten days ago another cultural heritage building located on Velcho Dzhamdzhiyata street also collapsed. The building which is also in the area of the old town has similarly been neglected and uninhabited for years.
There was a similar incident in the same area earlier in February. Back then, a building dating back to the 19th century, which had been used as metochion of the nearby Transfiguration monastery, collapsed.
