Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva has downplayed suggestions that her country's nationals will lose their rights after Britain voted to leave the European Union on Thursday.
Kuneva, however, has warned that the union is facing no good scenarios after a majority of Britons voted to end their country's 43-year membership.
No-one in the EU would like to wait for months before a new government is forced and the decision is formalized, Kuneva has told private bTV broadcaster.
Her comments echo those of EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, who on Friday called on London to consider beginning talks with Brussels immediately.
British Prime Minister David Cameron, however, had suggested he would not step down before October, paving the way for a new leadership that would be in charge of the withdrawal.
Kuneva has opined that it would be the British expat diaspora across European member states such as Spain (where 400 000 UK nationals live) that will be the most affected by the referendum results.
