Bulgaria: Britons Brave Bad Weather to Vote in EU Referendum Rhoto EPA/BGNES

Long queues have formed in front of some polling stations in which British voters cast ballots in a closely fought EU referendum.

Three opinion polls have put the campaign for the UK to remain in the EU in the lead, according to British media reports.

A poll conducted by ComRes for the Daily Mail and ITV News showed Remain on 48%, six percentrage points ahead of Leave

According to a Populus poll at noon on Thursday Remain was on 55% versus 45% for Leave.

A YouGov poll also showed Remain leading on Leave by a small margin.

Torrential rain has flooded streets in parts of the south-east UK, making many voters wade in water to reach their polling stations.

Some polling stations were forced to close and relocate due to the heavy rain that had fallen overnight in London.

The ballot boxes close at 10 p.m. London time.
