Macedonia’s parliament has rejected a motion to launch a procedure for the impeachment of President Gjorge Ivanov over his decision to revoke the amnesty he granted to politicians involved in a massive wiretapping scandal in April.

The motion submitted by opposition MPs was rejected in a 47-35 vote in the 123-seat assembly, MIA reported on Tuesday.

The proposal to launch impeachment proccedings against President Ivanov needed a two-thirds majority to pass.
