The Egyptian investigators said that the cockpit voice recorder of the EgyptAir plane that crashed last month in the Mediterranean had been pulled out from the sea, the BBC reported on Thursday.
The “black box” recording the conversations in the cockpit was recovered from the sea by a search vessel operating an underwater robot and will be taken to Alexandria to be examined.
The voice recorder was damaged but its memory unit was intact, according to the investigators.
"The vessel's equipment was able to salvage the part [of the recorder] that contains the memory unit, which is considered the most important part of the recording device,” the BBC quoted the Egyptian investigators as saying in a statement.
It remains a mystery what caused the crash of EgyptAir Flight MS804, en route from Paris to Cairo, in the Mediterranean in the early hours of 19 May 2016.
