During their meeting in Sofia on Thursday, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and President of the Slovenian Parliament Dr. Milan Brglez agreed to work towards enhancing the economic cooperation between the two countries.

Dr. Brglez is on an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart Tsetska Tsacheva for participation in the plenary session of the SEECP Parliamentary Assembly.

Borisov and Brglez assessed positively the relations between the two countries and expressed ambitions to continue developing bilateral ties at the highest political and economic level.

They agreed that the countries of the region are responsible for safeguarding the stability and security of the Balkans especially when presented with challenges such as the migrant crisis, protecting the external borders of the EU and cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

Borisov pointed that no open issues were standing between the two countries which provided good basis for establishing new partnerships between Bulgarian and Slovenian businesses.

The information and communications technology (ICT) sector was identified as one of the most perspective areas for cooperation.

The two countries will also work on renewing the activity of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation as well as activating the Bulgarian-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sofia.
