Bulgaria’s Tsvetana Pironkova lost to Australia’s 21st seed Samantha Stosur in the French Open quarter-finals on Wednesday.

The 21st seed Stosur survived a tense tiebreak and defeated Pironkova 6-4 7-6 (8-6) in a little under two hours to reach to the semi-finals.

Pironkova, ranked at number 102 in the world, explained after the match that Stosur’s strokes weren't typical.

They jump really high. She's doing slice shots, great serve, great overhead. She didn't miss a single overhead."
