Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov held a meeting on Wednesday with Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov, who is in the country for participation in the summit of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), which is hosted by Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev.

During the meeting, Borisov expressed concern about the latest developments in Macedonia, the government's press service informs.

The Bulgarian prime minister said that as a good friend of Macedonia, Bulgaria counts on sincere relations between the two countries which means sharing their concerns openly.

According to him, the ongoing political crisis in Macedonia could be resolved only through dialogue between all political parties, by carrying out the necessary reforms in the interest of all citizens and respecting the agreements.

Borisov and Ivanov called for swift conclusion of the negotiations on the bilateral agreement for good neighbourly relations and cooperation which will give new impetus to the European integration of Macedonia.

The two leaders discussed series of topics, among which the migrant crisis, the Near East, the integration of the Western Balkans.

The prime minister reaffirmed Bulgaria's support for the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Macedonia.

He is convinced that the future of all countries from the Western Balkans lies with the EU.

Borisov reaffirmed the readiness of Bulgaria to discuss and provide expert assistance to Macedonia on concrete issues related to the Bulgarian experience in order to achieve considerable progress on the road of Macedonia's membership to the EU and NATO.

Later on Wednesday, the Bulgarian prime minister is scheduled to meet with his Romanian counterpart Dacian Ciolos, who is also in the country for participation in the SEECP summit.
