Bulgaria: Bulgarian Customs Seize Amphetamines, Anabolic Steroids at Kapitan Andreevo Checkpoint

Bulgarian customs officers have thwarted an attempt to smuggle seven kilogrammes of amphetamines to Turkey through  Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, the National Customs Agency in Sofia announced on Wednesday.

The amphetaminies, with an estimated value of BGN 210,000 (EUR 105,000), were wrapped in seven packs labeled as table salt. They were found in a purposefully built cache in a Bulgarian-registered car departing for Turkey.

The Bulgarian driver of the Audi car has been detained in police custody.

In a separate development, customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo have seized anabolic steroids, which a Bulgarian citizen driving a car tried to smuggle from Turkey in his luggage, the customs agency said on Wednesday.

The find comprised injectable anabolic steroids Rimobolan and Genotropin.
