Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov on Friday said his country was more ready to meet the inflow of migrants to a bigger extent than Germany "in a particular moment".
While in Brussels, Mitov commented on reports appearing in German mass-circulation daily Bild warning that a new people smuggling route was being opened via Bulgaria after the EU-Turkey deal was put into practice in April.
"Bulgaria is more ready for the migrant inflow that all the others," the Bulgarian News Agency quotes Mitov as saying.
The top diplomat of Bulgaria pointed to the decreased migratory pressure, reminding journalists that Bulgaria had demanded a "Plan B" within the EU-Turkey agreement.
In March, when the deal was secured, no mention was made in its wording of the worries of either Bulgaria or Cyprus (with the latter earlier raising concerns about the prospects of Turkey's EU membership).
