Bulgaria: Divers Get 1 T of Waste Out of Waters Near St Anastasia Island File photo

Nearly a ton of waste has been taken out of the sea near the island of St Anastasia, a local club of divers based at the Black Sea has said.

It took more than two hours for 13 members of Friends of the Sea, a non-profit in the city of Burgas, to clean the seabed.

The initiative came just two years after St Anastasia, a former communist-era prison, opened for tourists in May 2014.
