Bulgaria’s seasonally adjusted construction production index decreased by 1.5% month-on-month in March, the state statistical office NSI announced on Tuesday.

Compared to March 2015, the construction production index adjusted for the number of workdays was 9.3% lower. Data for March 2016 are preliminary.

The NSI attributed the drop in the index on an annual basis mainly to a 14% decline in the sub-index tracking the construction of buildings and a 3.5% drop in the construction of civil engineering products.

The indices are calculated on the basis of information about hours worked in the construction sector.
