12-Year-Old Palestinian Killed in East Jerusalem Clashes
A 12-year-old Palestinian girl tragically lost her life during clashes in the Shuafat refugee camp
Clashes with police were reported on Wednesday evening as around 2000 people gathered to demonstrate next to the Roma neighborhood in the town of Radnevo, Southern Bulgaria.
Three police officers and six protesters were injured.
The protest was held of a second night. Tensions rose in Radnevo, located not far from the city of Stara Zagora, after a road incident resulted in a scuffle over the right of way between ethnic Bulgarians and Roma people.
Three were left injured after being beaten by a group of Roma that subsequently were indicted with charges of attempted murder.
Bulgarian protesters argue Roma crime is left unpunished even though locals are allegedly often targeted by outbursts of aggression, particularly from one family which some locals say deals with a number of criminal activities.
On Wednesday some of the demonstrators tried to break into the area of the Roma neighborhood cordoned off by police.
Officers were pelted with bottles of water, public bTV station reports.
Locals say most of the Roma were taken away from the neighborhood earlier on Wednesday, following the demonstration that occurred the night before.
A new demonstration has already been scheduled for Thursday.
