The highest ranking Bulgarian male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov proceeded to the semifinals of the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open.
It took him slightly less than one hour and twenty minutes to reach his second consecutive semifinal in Istanbul.
In a match from the third round played on Friday, Dimitrov defeated Jiri Vesely from the Czech Republic with 7:6 (1), 6:1.
Vesely came in the lead with 5:2 in the opening set, but the Bulgarian managed to recover by winning three consecutive games and equalising the score.
Dimitrov was more concentrated at the end of the set and won convincingly the tie-break.
In the second set, the Bulgarian achieved a break and came in the lead with 3:1. He easily claimed the final victory after achieving another break in the sixth game.
Thus Dimitrov scored his second victory over Vesely in the second encounter between the two players.
