At least 13 people were injured when a female suicide bomber blew herself up near the Grand Mosque in Bursa, in northwestern Turkey, local media reported on Wednesday.

Turkish Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu has said that none of the injured people was in critical condition, according to dailysabah.com.

No one has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing at the heart of the city.

Police sources have said that the suicide bomber was a 25-year-old woman; and the bomb probably went off earlier than planned which prevented a high number of casualties, according to dailysabah.com.

The attack took place a day after the United States warned their citizens in Turkey about “credible terrorist threats to tourist areas”, Reuters noted in its coverage of the news.

Four suicide bombings have hit major cities in Turkey earlier this year. Two attacks were carried out by Islamic States militants in Istanbul, and another two, for which the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) claimed responsibility, took place in Ankara.
