Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski will hold on Monday a meeting with representatives of road hauliers who are planning to stage blockades at checkpoints along the border with Greece in response to the blockades organised by Greek farmers in February.

The meeting with also be attended by representatives of tour operators, who have expressed their opposition to the planned blockade.

Road hauliers are planning to stage blockades over the Easter holiday, starting from April 29 to May 8, with the passage of vehicles to be allowed only at certain hours each day.

Tour operators reacted harshly to the planned blockades, saying that such actions could lead to huge losses for the tourist sector. Some forecasts estimate that the losses can amount to BGN 100 M.

On Friday, Borisov expressed opposition to the planned blockades and said that he will try to discourage the road hauliers from staging the blockades.

At the same, he said that he understands the discontent of truck drivers as they are in their full right to respond to the humiliating actions of Greek farmers.
