According to preliminary figures of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) released on Monday, Bulgaria had a negative balance of trade with the EU and third countries in the first two months of this year.
In January 2016, Bulgarian exports to the EU exceeded BGN 2.2 B, which represented a decrease of 1.4 % compared to the same month last year.
The main trading partners of Bulgaria were Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece, France and Belgium, which accounted for 67 % of all exports to the EU.
The largest increase was registered in the export of chemical substances and products as well as diverse ready products, while the largest drop was recorded in the export of fats, oils and waxes from animal and plant origin.
Bulgarian imports from the EU exceeded BGN 2.2 B in the first month of this year, registering a decrease of 2.1% compared to January 2015.
The greatest volume of goods was imported from Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain and Greece.
The greatest increase was registered in the import of fats, oils and waxes from animal and plant origin, while the largest drop was recorded in the import of mineral fuels, oils and similar products.
Bulgaria's balance of trade with the EU in January was negative and amounted to BGN 0.3 M.
In the first two months of this year, Bulgarian exports to third countries amounted to BGN 2.36 B, registering an increase of 0.3 % compared to the same period in 2015.
