Bulgaria: Bulgarian Authorities Detain 21 Illegal Migrants in Burgas

Bulgarian authorities detained on Thursday 21illegal migrants in a building from a former agricultural complex located in the neighbourhood of Dolno Ezerovo in the city of Burgas.

The men, who had illegally crossed the Bulgarian border, identified themselves as coming from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Syria.

The building is owned by 48-year-old man from Burgas and has been rented to a 26-year-old man who was detained on the spot.

The building has been adapted for the accommodation of illegal migrants and has been fitted with surveillance cameras. The windows have been darkened to provide for a better hiding place for the migrants.

According to preliminary suggestions, it served as a transit point for migrants from the Middle East and other conflict zones for their onward transportation to Sofia.
