Bulgaria’s Defence Staff has launched a donation campaign to restore airplanes damaged by fire at the Aviation Museum in Krumovo, near Plovdiv.

A fire broke out at the indoor exhibit of the museum shortly before noon on Saturday, inflicting critical damage to several airplanes representing  Bulgarian-made aircraft like Laz 7-M built by Tsvetan Lazarov as well as replicas of other planes such as Albatros and DAR-1.

The blaze raged for 20 minutes before firefighters put it down, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement on Saturday.

No one was hurt in the incident. An investigation was launched to find the reasons for the fire.
