A building declared part of Bulgaria's cultural heritage was razed in the town of Harmanli in February, officials have said.

The demolition has been announced just days after a former tobacco warehouse, now designed to turn into an art center, was bulldozed despite being part of a cultural heritage area in Plovdiv, the second-largest city of Bulgaria.

Unlike the case in Plovdiv, the building in Harmanli, also used as a tobacco warehouse in the past, had cultural heritage status on its own.

Bulgaria's prosecuting authority has already said it will look into the development.
