An anonymous letter with unspecified death threats against Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has been received at the government headquarters in Sofia, public radio broadcaster BNR reported on Monday.

The unsigned enveleope contained a photograph of Borisov with a bullet attached to it, BNR said. The death threats were written in letters cut from a newspaper.

Borisov confirmed to reporters that a threat had been addressed at him on Monday but declined to elaborate, according to BNR.

Borisov also declined to comment whether the threat was related to a report by international consultancy AlixPartners who have been hired to track assets from collapsed Corporate Commercial Bank (Corpbank or KTB).

"They are telling us from London that they will send the report by the end of their working day and it will be sent immediately to parliament who is free to declassify it, if lawmakers wish so,” Borisov told reporters, according to focus-news.net.

Borisov said on Saturday that the report would be delivered to the Bulgarian Parliament's secret registry, which is not accessible to the general public but files in it can be viewed by all lawmakers.

The prime minister also said that it was no surprise to receive threats after revenue collected from cracking down on organized smuggling of goods at Bulgarian customs had increased by some BGN 3 B over the past year compared with 2014.

Receiving threats is no surprise either after dismissing public officials 'each day' , Borisov said.

Earlier on Monday, the government fired the head of the State Agency for Refugees Nikola Kazakov without giving a reason. Local media reports, however, linked Kazakov's dismissal to alleged wrongdoing related to contracts for supplying food for migrants and refugees in the reception centres operated by the agency.

The Ministry of the Interior announced earlier on Monday that it had received information about an attack allegedly planned again controversial MP Delyan Peevski who therefore would be protected by the National Service for Protection (NSO).
