The highest ranking Bulgarian male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov proceeded to the second round of the Delray Beach Open.

In a match from the first round, Dimitrov defeated Dudi Sela from Israel with 6:4, 6:2 in slightly more than an hour.

This is the first appearance of the Bulgarian in the tournament, in which he is seeded fourth.

He dominated from the start, recording his fourth victory in four matches against Sela.

In the opening set, Dimitrov won a break in the seventh game, came in the lead with 4:3 and maintained his advantage until the end.

The Bulgarian achieved a break early in the second set and after recording another one later on, he claimed the final victory.

Rain delayed the beginning of the encounter with three hours and once the match started the players had to deal with strong wind.

In the second round, he is to face the winner from the encounter between Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis and Damir Dzumhur from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
