Bulgaria’s Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova said on Friday that Russia is a partner of strategic importance in the area of tourism for her country, TASS reported.
"An extremely frank dialogue has been established between our countries, which favors expanding and deepening of relations in the tourism sector," Angelkova said in an interview with the Russian news agency.
"Results of our cooperation are evident already. For me, Russia is an extremely important, strategic partner in the area of tourism," Angelkova added.
Angelkova also said that a roundtable on prospects for the development of tourism links between Bulgaria and Russia would take place in Moscow later this month with focus on efforts to increase the number of Russian tourists visiting Bulgarian Black Sea resorts. Bulgaria’s government continues to work towards simplifying the process of issuing visas to Russian tourists, with results to be announced at the roundtable event in Moscow.
Free visas for Russian children younger than 16 years who travel to Bulgaria on package tours to take part in various summer festivals is a novelty in the Tourism Ministry offer for 2016, Angelkova said, adding that lists of those festivals are available at the Bulgarian embassy in Moscow and the country’s consular offices in Russia.
The ministry also prepares a special offer for pensioners and disabled people, who will be eligible for a multiple yearly visa, Angelkova added.
The Bulgarian Black Sea resorts of Sunny Beach and Golden Sands rank among the 10 cheapest destinations for Russian tourists this year, according to a ranking conducted by online hotel booking platform oktogo.ru.
