Bulgaria: Bulgaria to Contribute EUR 50 000 to EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa

Bulgaria will contribute EUR 50 000 to the EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa after parliament ratified the agreement on the establishment of the fund on Friday.

The fund is aimed at achieving stability and tackling the root causes of irregular migration and displaced persons in Africa.

The fund foresees the allocation of EUR 1.8 B, which will be provided from the financing instruments of the EU and contribution from member states and other donors.

The Bulgarian contribution to the fund, which was announced at the Valletta summit on migration in November last year, will be provided by the foreign ministry.

The largest opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) demanded for postponement of the ratification until a statement of the parliamentary budget committee, daily Dnevnik informs.
