Bulgaria has called a tender for designing and building a Wi-Fi communication system at the country’s two biggest Black Sea ports, in Varna and Burgas.

State-owned Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure (BPI) Company said in a statement on Friday that the estimated cost of the project to introduce wireless Internet at the ports was BGN 6 M (EUR 3M), VAT excluded.

Deploying a wireless Internet communication system will make more comfortable the stay of the passengers and crews of the vessels calling at Burgas and Varna ports, BPI said.

Upon introduction of the system, wireless Internet will be also available at the smaller Bulgarian Black Sea ports of Balchik and Nessebar.

Funding for the project is expected to come from the EU Operational Programme Transport & Transport Infrastructure for the 2014-2020 period, and/or the BPI budget, according to the tender notice.

Bids will be accepted by 28 March 2016.
