Profession Shortage: Bulgaria's Vocational Education Struggles with Demand Mismatch
Vocational education encompasses approximately half of high school students and is available in every district nationwide, reaching around 80% of all municipalities
It’s a matter of courage to make reforms in the education sector, Bulgaria’s newly appointed Education Minister Meglena Kuneva said on Wednesday shortly after parliament endorsed her nomination.
Kuneva told reporters in parliament that she would work with everyone in the name of a common national cause, according to a statement released by Bulgaria of the Citizens movement which she is heading.
Education in Bulgaria must not only emanate stability, it must have vision, Kuneva said.
“The question is no longer whether a university or a school is better than another one in Bulgaria, but rather whether it is better than those in Europe and the world,” Kuneva said.
She pledged to work transparently and in dialogue with everyone interested in reforming the education system.
