Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev has reiterated his intention not to announce his plans for the presidential election this year before the summer.

Plevneliev assumed office in 2012, and a new vote is due this October.

In an interview with daily 24 Chasa ("24 Hours"), published days after his annual address, he has repeated that presidential candidacies aren't the the most important debate in the Bulgarian society and should not substitute the big issue of justice.

Plevneliev has called for "bold action" to make sure the judicial reform in Bulgaria is carried through.

"There can be no socially responsible economy as long as there are oligarchs devouring the already limited resource of the state. Let's conduct a debate on each one of the Bulgarian politicians' contribution to the fight against oligarchy," Plevneliev has said.

The head of state has pointed to his own contribution, referring to his criticism for a constitutional judge nominee, Veneta Markovska, the crisis at Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB), and the appointment of controversial MP Delyan Peevski as head of the State Agency for National Security (DANS).

In 2012, at a ceremony to mark the appointment of several constitutional judges, Markovska was not sworn in to Bulgaria's top court after Plevneliev left the ceremony, reading out a statement that said he could not attend the swearing-in of a law person whose reputation in society raises "doubt as to [their] moral qualities". He did not explicitly mention her name.

In the summer of 2013, Plevneliev sided with protesters against the appointment of Peevski, drawing fire from the then ruling socialist-liberal government.
