Bulgaria: CNN: Turkish Airlines Plane Diverts to Ireland After Security Threat

A Turkish Airlines plane on a trans-Atlantic flight has been diverted to Shannon airport in Ireland on Sunday after a handwritten bomb threat was discovered on board, CNN reported.

The Boeing 777 carrying 209 passengers from Houston, Texas to Istanbul landed safely at Shannon around 11a.m. local time. All of the passengers and the crew disembarked safely and were moved to a secured part of the airport, according to CNN.

Officials have launched an investigation and searches.

Flight TK34 was over the Atlantic when the threat was uncovered.
