The highest ranking Bulgarian male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov proceeded to the third round of Australian Open.

In a match from the second round played on Wednesday, Dimitrov defeated Argentinian Marco Trungelliti with 6:3, 4:6, 6:2, 7:5.

In the third round the Bulgarian will face Roger Federer, who defeated Alexandr Dolgopolov from Ukraine with 6:3, 7:5, 6:1.

Dimitrov will seek his first victory against Federer, with the Swiss having won all four matches between them.

Their most recent encounter was at the quarterfinals of the Brisbane International tournament earlier this month when the Bulgarian managed to win his first set against his Swiss opponent, but Federer claimed the final victory.
