Multiple bomb and gunfire attacks have left several people dead and other injured in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Thursday.

According to media reports, at least four people have been killed by the explosions which occurred at several locations throughout the city.

Hundreds of police officers, including snipers, are on the streets as the shootout with the suspected attackers is continuing.

At present, it is not clear who might be behind the attacks and so far no one has claimed responsibility, the BBC informs.

In the past, Indonesia has been targeted by Islamist militants and recently the country has been on high alert after threats from Islamic State (IS).
