Bulgaria’s national weather service has issued yellow code alert for the country’s entire territory over a potential risk of ice on the roads and strong winds along the Black Sea coast on Sunday.
The yellow code alert is the lowest degree of potentially hazardous weather on the three-degree scale of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).
It has been issued to warn motorists driving back home after a New Year holiday break ending on Sunday. Traffic jams are possible at the junctions of Sofia Ring Road with Hemus, Trakia and Struma motorways in the afternnon, traffic police have warned.
Light snow has been falling across Bulgaria since the early hours of Sunday. Mountain passes are open for traffic.
