Sofia Airport Unveils Summer Schedule with Four New Destinations
As the travel season approaches, Sofia Airport gears up to kickstart its summer schedule, bringing exciting new travel opportunities for passengers
The number of passengers attended by Sofia Airport reached four million on Monday, a record high, airport officials say.
Of them, 1.5 million flew to or from Terminal 1, and 2.5 million used Terminal 2, which opened in 2006.
Last year, some 3.8 million people departed from or arrived at the airport.
A woman who lives in the UK but arrived in Sofia for the holidays was declared passenger No 4 000 000 on Monday and was received with a small ceremony organized by the airport. It is London where a vast share of the passengers (some 300 000) normally fly to from here.
Construction of Sofia Airport started in 1937, with different elements (a track included) added over the course of several years.
