Winter Tourism: 1.8 Million Visit Bulgaria
Bulgaria has witnessed a bustling winter tourism season, with a total of 1.8 million tourists gracing its picturesque landscapes from December 1 to March 25
The new winter season was officially opened in two of Bulgaria's most popular winter resorts - Borovets and Pamporovo on Saturday.
The ski season in the other major winter resort of Bansko was opened last week with a ceremony attended by Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova, Sports Minister Krasen Kralev and a number of ski legends.
The opening of the season in Borovets was attended by legendary Bulgarian skier Petar Popangelov junior.
The resort offered free skiing for everyone and free ski and snowboard lessons for beginners.
Tourism Minister Angelkova was expected to attend the official opening ceremony in Pamporovo.
The opening included a lot of sport competitions, raffle for visitors, rich musical programme and free admission to ski lifts.
