Plans for a high-speed train linking Sofia and Istanbul and an interconnection for supplying gas from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria via Turkey have been on the agenda of a meeting between the heads of government of Turkey and Bulgaria in Sofia on Tuesday.
The two neighbouring countries are going to implement large-scale transport projects including a high-speed train that will run between Sofia and Istanbul, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said at a joint news conference with his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov after the meeting.
Borisov said that Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece have decided to build interconnectors which together with the planned gas hub Balkan would achieve true diversification of supply and transmission of natural gas in any direction.
The Bulgarian Prime Minister also said that he hoped that the transport ministers of Bulgaria and Turkey would soon invite him and Davutoglu to the opening of a railway line between Bulgaria and Turkey allowing trains to travel at speed of 180-190 km/h
