Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), one of the key parties in right-wing Reformist Bloc, has decided to renounce support for the Bulgarian government, a statement sent out by the party reads.

DSB members on Saturday met for an extraordinary congress in the Black Sea town of Pomorie, days after tensions rose between their leader Radan Kanev and the main ruling party GERB.

The RB is GERB's junior partner in the Bulgarian coalition government.

On Wednesday Kanev announced he would withdraw his support for the cabinet of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, without quitting the DSB, after Parliament voted for an amended version of judicial reform proposals and that prompted the Justice Minister to step down.

Hristo Ivanov's reform proposals were strongly supported by the DSB. Before the congress, Kanev had underlined his decision only reflected his personal view.

The DSB is not withdrawing its own minister, Petar Moskov, from the government.

Moskov, however, has resigned as Deputy Chairman of the DSB, but without leaving the party.

The Reformist Bloc, which had initially distanced itself from Kanev's decision to be an opposition MP, is to present its position next week.
