All banks in the Bulgarian town of Razgrad were closed on Thursday morning due to two anonymous bomb threats.

The first call was made by a man to the emergency telephone number 112, who claimed that bombs had been planted at all banks.

Several minutes later a second call claimed that a bomb had been planted only at the branch of the United Bulgarian Bank.

For more than an hour all fifteen banks in the town and their surrounding areas remained sealed off while being inspected by authorities.

No explosive devices were found and the banks returned to normal operation around noon.

According to unofficial information, both calls were made from landlines at post offices located in different areas of the town.

The authorities are working on establishing the telephones from which the calls were made and revealing the identity of the perpetrators.
