Bulgaria: Europe Commemorates Victims of Paris Attacks with Minute of Silence

Europe commemorated the victims of Friday's attacks in Paris by observing a minute of silence at noon on Monday.

The gun and bombs attacks, which targeted six sites across the French capital, claimed the lives of 129 people and left hundreds injured.

In a joint statement issued by the leaders of the EU and the Heads of State or Government of the member states on Saturday, the Union condemned the terrorist attacks, which constituted an attack against all.

The leaders assured that they stand united with France and will face the threat together with ruthless determination, taking all the necessary means to defeat extremism, terrorism and hatred.

The statement noted that Europeans will remember 13 November 2015 as a European day of mourning.

In Bulgaria, the minute of silence was observed in front of the French embassy in Sofia and in French language schools across the country, the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) reported.
