The Bulgarian Prosecutor's Office accused on Tuesday two nationalist Ataka MPs of hooliganism.
The accused MPs are the leader of Ataka, Volen Siderov, and his fellow party member Desislav Chukolov.
In the past month, the two have been involved in a series of incidents in the area of the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFIZ) in downtown Sofia.
The accusations concern the first such incident, when Siderov and Chukolov accused the owners of an alcohol and tobacco store of selling illicit cigarettes and drugs, which escalated into a brawl with citizens and police officers.
Siderov is accused of hooliganism coupled with extraordinary degree of cynicism, as well as inflicting a light injury on a police officer.
Chukolov is similarly accused of hooliganism carried out with an extraordinary degree of cynicism and inflicting a light body injury on a police officer on duty.
Last week, MPs voted in favour of lifting the immunity of the two MPs from criminal prosecution, which had been requested by Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov.
On two other occasions, Siderov and Chukolov rushed into the building of NATFIZ, disturbing classes and accusing students of using drugs.
