Sofia District Prosecutor's Office: Volen Siderov Wanted!
Volen Siderov has been declared for a nationwide search, the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office announced.
Lawmakers are to decide Thursday whether to lift the immunity of Volen Siderov, the leader of nationalist Ataka party, and Desislav Chukolov, a member of the same party.
An ad hoc committee set up after the step was requested by Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov already voted "yes" earlier this week.
Their immunity is now sought on two counts. Both of them refer to late-night incidents on the downtown Rakovski street in Sofia. Early in October, Siderov took part in a scuffle with the owner of a liquor store, and ten days later, just before local elections on October 25, entered the building of the National Academy for Theater and Film Arts, disrupting classes. A second intrusion into the academy, two days later, ended violently.
