Bulgaria is honouring on Sunday all the people who helped develop and preserve its culture and pass it on to other generations, along with those who fought for its liberty under Ottoman rule.

Bulgaria has celebrated on November 1 since 1909, but banned festivities under Communism to renew them in 1992.

To mark the Enlighteners Day, the National Library in Sofia will offer free entry on Sunday between 10:00 and 15:00 local time (EET). Admission will also be free itno many museums and galleries across the country.

The National Theater Ivan Vazov announced it would only show plays by Bulgarian authors during the day, with all tickets at BGN 5 (EUR 2.5).
