Bulgarian Foreign Ministter Daniel Mitov 'will call on Iran before long", the Tehran Times quotes the country's ambassador Hristo Polendakov as saying.
The report comes after a meeting of Polendakov with Mohsen Jalalpour, who heads Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.
After the two had discussed cooperation in agriculture, industry, tourism and transport and put forward the possibility of Bulgaria becoming a major transit hub for EU-bound Iranian goods - Polendakov said "joint brands" were also something on which their respective countries could work.
The Tehran Times also reports that exports from Bulgaria have dropped considerably since the current Iranian calendar year began on March 21.
Preliminary national statistics, however, suggest exports to Iran in January-August 2015 totaled BGN 199.5 M compared to BGN 86.2 M for the same period of the previous year.
Imports from the Islamic Republic, on the other hand, have slumped to BGN 6.8 M, down from BGN 16.4 M, within the same period.
