Bulgaria is interested in an increased volume of Chinese investment into the country, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov told Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi who is on a visit to Sofia on Friday.

The two discussed several possible vectors of cooperation, including moves to deepen ties in agriculture, transport, culture, science, and technologies, the government's press office has announced.

Transport corridors were also on the agenda, with a special focus on the opportunities presented by projects under the so-called "New Silk Road" concept (Bulgaria reportedly signed a memorandum of cooperation on one such project earlier in October).

China's top diplomat, for his part, invited PM Borisov to visit China accompanied by a Bulgarian delegation, with Borisov agreeing a meeting with counterpart Li Keqiang is needed to discuss specific bilateral projects.
