Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Talks Defence, Security with U.S. State Dept Official

Cooperation in defence and security areas was discussed in talks on Monday between Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and Todd Chapman, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the State Department’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs.

Mitov is taking part in the 70th annual session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Opportunities for modernizing the Bulgarian Armed Forces, Bulgaria's participation in defence initiatives and programmes of the U.S. as well as the situation in the Middle East and threats to security were also discussed in the talks between Mitov and Chapman, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
