Five of the six suspects arrested so far in the investigation of the death of 71 migrants found suffocated in an abandoned truck in Austria last month were Bulgarian nationals, AFP has said in an article about the role of Bulgarian criminal groups in human trafficking.
“Organised criminals in Bulgaria are major players in the lucrative trade in human cargo — and often have scant regard for whether their freight lives or dies,” reads the article published on Thursday.
