Bulgaria will be part of the EU's unified response to the migrant crisis, the country's Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov has said.

Speaking to reporters in Sofia just as EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker was unveiling in Brussels the Commission's new proposals for binding quotas, Mitov has also noted that Bulgaria already has a big enough number of migrants "based on total GDP and population".

Focus News Agency quotes Mitov as calling on some EU member states "which haven't yet should enough solidarity" to assume their responsibility and receive a bigger number of asylum seekers.

Under the Commission's new proposal, Bulgaria is to accept 1600 more migrants, which is among the smaller numbers along with those of Slovakia (1502) and Croatia (1064).
