Bulgaria: Bulgaria 'among Young Romanians' Most Preferred Holiday Places'

Bulgaria is one of the four countries where young Romanians usually choose to spend their summer holidays, data from the largest Romanian charter tour operator suggests.

Along with Greece, Turkey and Spain, Bulgaria is part of a trend observed among young people in Romania to increase the number and budget of leisure trips to Europe, the Bulgarian News Agency quoted Marius Pandel, CEO Christian Tour, as saying.

A nationwide survey conducted by the tourist businesses association in the country the share of people aged 26-35 in Romania traveling for their holidays has increased by 21% over the past ten years (though it is 55+ people where numbers have increased most dramatically, by 35% compared to 2005).

While half of Romanians opt for a domestic trip, the same number as in 2005, there has been a threefold increase (from 9 to 28%) of holidays abroad.
