Bulgaria: Turkey Wants Better Exchange of Security Information with Bulgaria Photo by BGNES

Turkey demands an increased volume of information from Bulgarian security services to stem the flow of suspected terrorists, Ankara's Ambassador to NATO has said.

In an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio, Mehmet Fatih Ceylan has said that more cooperation, instead of just building fences, is needed on a bilateral level to tackle the issue of terrorist suspects crossing the common border.

Ceylan has noted that there are "no obstacles to a more intensive exchange of intelligence information so that foreign terrorist fighters of [Islamic State] are halted."

He has also fended off accusations that Turkey is waging a war with the Kurds, stressing that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has recently become a target of Turkey's bombings, is "a terrorist organization" and dealing with it "is not a Kurdish problem".

The ambassador has warned that the developments in the Middle East pose a "direct threat" to the security of Turkey and its allies.
